It began with a candy jar. Now, it’s a commitment to every K9—on duty and in retirement
Blue Line Jars started with a mason jar and a mission.
In 2020, as “defund the police” rhetoric grew louder and law enforcement morale reached a low point, we wanted to send a different message: you’re seen, and you’re appreciated. It began with hand-delivering mason jars filled with candy to local officers during COVID — a simple gesture that sparked something much bigger.
What began as a small act of kindness turned into a growing nonprofit dedicated to supporting active police K9s. We began supplying departments with essential gear, Narcan kits, and K9 first-aid tools — always with the belief that no working dog should be without what they need to do their job safely.
In 2023, we met Uno, an active K9 at the time, and built a close relationship with his handler. As Uno eventually entered retirement, we witnessed firsthand the challenges that come after the badge is turned in — from medical expenses and mobility struggles to end-of-life planning. There were few resources available for the very dogs who had spent their lives serving others.
In 2025, as part of our 5th anniversary, we officially launched Uno’s Legacy — a program dedicated to supporting retired K9s with dignity, care, and continued respect.
But our mission doesn’t stop there.
We believe that creating lasting change starts with the next generation. Through our K9 Kids initiative, we’re introducing youth to the world of working dogs through coloring books, games, and school outreach — helping children understand the value of service, sacrifice, and compassion.
